Save Bitch Magazine!

As you’ve probably heard, the magazine industry is losing money & readers as internet competitors become more popular, accessible, and affordable. While I personally don’t care if they stop putting out Seventeen magazine or similar publications, it’s the non-profits and alternative mags that are being hit the hardest — not the publications with the support of a large, rich company (so Vogue, Maxim, etc have less to worry about).
I didn’t know, until the ladies of Evil Slutopia brought it to my attention, that Bitch magazine is one of the publications suffering. Bitch Magazine, entering its 13th year of publication (!!), is a non-profit feminist organization. As owner of BITCHfest & a big fan of feminist publications, I’m so saddened by the prospect of Bitch magazine being forced to shut up shop!
However, as this video from members of Bitch’s editorial board shows, there is something fans & readers of Bitch can do:
They need to raise 40,000 dollars by October 15th (the cost of putting out the next issue of Bitch). I urge you to donate whatever you can or subscribe for their next 4 issues, so that Bitch can continue to reach such a wide audience. I’m not sure what the long-term plan for Bitch is, but I believe that it’s an important cause to keep it afloat for as long as possible.
