ignoring facts and willingly refusing to cover news is never the answer.
by showing the willingness of these groups to use anyone, even the mentally handicapped (as they have in the past), the true identity, the true core of what these groups are about and how little they care about the people the purport to represent becomes clear.

just as the taliban destroyed much of its public support as a result of its widespread use of Sharia law, so will many of the insurgent groups once our troops withdraw.

You know, I can say that I've never really thought about it in the past, but you're absolutely right. I don't see much coverage of male suicide bombers in which they are specifically referred to as men in no uncertain terms; at the very least, it's definitely not a highlighted aspect of the story. Like you said, it's completely different with women. I vaguely remember a story a while ago that was on one of my local news programs almost every day seemingly for an entire week that outlined, in fairly grotesque detail, the actions of a female suicide bomber in Iraq. Although they clearly weren't condoning the behavior, remember back now, it was almost reported in a way that would garner some sympathy, especially when they talked about her daughter and something like that.

Unfortunately, what you said about the American media helping terrorist organizations realize the importance of women in their operations is true of many other things -- I feel sick to my stomach every time there's a news report on, say, World News Tonight that outlines exactly how someone could attack the U.S. I wonder if anyone in the media truly realizes that what they say can actually be used by the people they're talking about.
