End of the Week Links

–>Newsflash: Happy people watch less TV than unhappy people. Read the whole article here, and then turn off your television!
–>Winter is already here in many parts of the U.S, brrr! Here are some awesome blog posts on how to stay stylish in the winter months and how to beat the winter blues.
–>Read this eye-opening post about Sarah Palin’s so-called “gender equal” state of Alaska. Did you know that Alaska’s rape rate is 2.5 times the national average? Apparently, neither does Sarah.
–>President Bush is putting his finals days on the job to good (or bad) use. Check out this article on the “midnight regulations” Bush has been passing lately. Makes me rather nervous, considering a lot of what gets passed can’t be overturned by Obama’s administration.
Check out this excerpt:
“The Wall Street Journal reports that the new rules, “open the way for commercial development of oil shale on federal land, allow truckers to drive for longer periods, and add certain restrictions on employee time off under the Family and Medical Leave Act.”
Fuck you Bush. Seriously.
–>Some think it’s time for the Republican Party to divorce itself from its more religious membership. What do you think? Read the original article and the commentary here.
Hope your weekend has been lovely! Happy Thanksgiving to those in the United States!

Link 3: Kudos to the Sluts for catching this. Palin is a disgrace.
Link 4: Fuck u, Bush x 2.
Link 5: I’m not a huge fan of Kathleen Parker, but I think she is getting at the right idea here. The homogeneous nature of the Republican party isn’t appealing to a generation that was born with feminist, antiracist, and LGBT movements already in gear. Whether the people in this generation actually are feminist, antiracist, etc. isn’t the point. Just the presense of these things has altered our mindsets significantly, and the GOP’s gotta play catch-up. Christianity is also slow to change in a rapidly changing world. I think it’s struggling to share its space with other world religions.
Thanks for the linkage. We were really trying to ignore Sarah Palin, but couldn’t leave that ridiculous quote alone.
@ Dolly ann — I like the way you addressed each link. Especially fuck you Bush x2. :-) I actually don’t know anything about Kathleen Parker, but I agree with what you said. Slow change in a rapidly globalizing world isn’t a good thing.
@ Evilslutclique — No problem. I wish I could ignore her too.
Thanks for the link love, Dollface! I’m flattered to be in such good company. : )
No problem Sarah :-) Your posts are rad.
Great links, thank-you! :)
Loved the last link to Kathleen Parker. I’ve been saying it for years, but no one paid attention. And I’m a Christian, but I believe very strongly in freedom of religion that too many of my fellows only pay lip service to — they only want freedom for *their* religion. There’s no place for such narrow-mindedness in a free nation.
